MADISON, Wis., July 25 (UPI) -- Organizers of a Wisconsin parade for hybrid cars said the 208-car event set a world record for the longest procession of hybrids.

Paul Cooley, showroom manager for event organizer Smart Motors, said the Madison parade included vehicles from Ohio, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Georgia and Quebec, the (Madison) Wisconsin State Journal reported Monday.

Smart Motors said the 208 vehicles participating in the 2.1-mile parade only used four gallons of gas, as many of the cars did not even need to use their gas engines for the 5 mph procession.

The dealership said the event broke the previous Guinness World Record of 140 hybrid vehicles in a parade set last year in Belgium.
