BEIJING, July 22 (UPI) -- Unnatural deaths, including homicides, claimed the lives of 53 billionaires on mainland China since 2003, a survey said Friday.

The survey, conducted by the New Culture News and reported by China Daily, said 15 billionaires were slain, 17 committed suicide, seven died in accidents and 14 were executed by the state.

Ninteen others died of disease, the survey found.

The report did not say how many billionaires China currently has, but quoted the 2011 GroupM Knowledge-Hurun Wealth Report as saying the country currently has about 60,000 people with net worth of 100 million yuan ($15.5 million) or more.

Forbes Magazine reported this year there are 115 Chinese worth at least $1 billion in U.S. dollars.
