Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe OAK PARK, Mich., July 16 (UPI) -- A lawyer for a Michigan woman charged with a misdemeanor for growing a vegetable garden in her front yard said charges have been dropped "for the time being." Solomon Radner said Thursday the charges were dropped without his client, Julie Bass of Oak Park, being notified, but he did discover the city is resurrecting charges against Bass for not having licenses for her two dogs, an issue Bass said has already been taken care of, The Detroit News reported Friday. Advertisement "Charges are dropped for the time being," Radner said. "Based on the games the city has been playing, I would not put it past them to drop the charges just to get the media off their back." City officials received numerous e-mails and phone calls after the charges were filed, in part thanks to a Facebook page Bass created titled "Oak Park Hates Veggies." Radner said Bass took care of the license issue after receiving a ticket in June and showed the paperwork to city officials. However, he said an Oak Park city attorney told him the case remains active.
