SUNLAND PARK, Texas, July 13 (UPI) -- Police in Texas said they are searching for a "ninja" spotted wandering through a yard with a sword late at night.

Alan Turnello said his daughter, who lives in Sunland Park's Edgemont neighborhood, and her husband were awakened by the sound of dogs barking at about 3 a.m. Thursday and they saw a man in a ninja costume standing in their front yard, the El Paso (Texas) Times reported Wednesday.

Turnello said his son-in-law went outside, but the "ninja" fled.

He said the costumed man "didn't say anything."

"He ran off attempting to hide behind things that were too small for him to hide behind," Turnello said. He said his son-in-law "doesn't know if this guy is crazy or maybe he really thinks he is a ninja."

A Sunland Park city spokesman said police have been unable to identify the costumed man.
