DARBY, Pa., July 13 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania man named Casey Anthony says he has been getting calls and online messages for the Florida mother acquitted in the death of her daughter.
Anthony, 43, of Darby said the July 5 verdict led to at least 300 Facebook friend requests, messages and posts apparently confusing him with the 25-year-old Orlando woman who had been charged with murdering her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, WCAU-TV, Philadelphia, reported Wednesday.
"Making comments about the verdict, who am I to take a child's life," Anthony said of the messages. "And then I'm sitting back like 'excuse me, I'm not the Casey Anthony you think.'"
Anthony said his phone number is listed on his Facebook profile, leading to a flurry of sometimes threatening phone calls. He said he has stopped answering calls with Florida area codes.
"I can't change my name, ladies and gentlemen," he said.
