WARSAW, Poland, July 12 (UPI) -- A Polish court ordered the leader of the country's right-wing Law and Justice Party to apologize to a media group for comparing it to a communist newspaper.

The appeals court in Warsaw ordered party leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski to publish an apology to Agora within seven days after comparing the company's left-leaning Gazeta Wyborcza daily to communist-era newspaper Trybuna Ludu, Polish news agency PAP reported Monday.

The court said the "false, defamatory allegations" made by Kaczynski during a September 2007 interview with the center-right Rzeczpospolita newspaper "threaten (the company's) good name, credibility and reputation."

A lawyer for Kaczynski said he will appeal the decision to the country's Supreme Court.
