GOLDSBORO, N.C., July 6 (UPI) -- A North Carolina woman who received a love note from Michael Jordan while they were in high school says she does not know how it was leaked to the public.

Laquetta Robinson of Goldsboro said she received the letter from Jordan nearly 30 years ago and thought it was still in her possession until she saw it Friday on a TV show, WTVD-TV, Raleigh, N.C., reported Tuesday.

"That was between him and me," she said. "Not anyone else. It wasn't for anyone else to have knowledge of it. That's something he wrote to me, at that time, out of his heart."

Sports auction house Lelands.com said the love note and a picture of Jordan, who went on to a Hall of Fame pro basketball career and also found success in the business world, and Robinson at their high school prom was purchased by someone in December 2004. Robinson said she suspects a family member may have taken the items and sold them to the auction house.

"It was mine, it was personal, it was private," Robinson said. "And for them to take something that belonged to me and to capitalize off of it, without my knowledge, without my permission, it really upsets me."

She said she fears other items also may have been taken and sold.

"More than anything, I wouldn't want Michael to think that I did it cause I wouldn't want him to think that I would betray him in this way," Robinson said.
