ENGLEWOOD, Colo., June 29 (UPI) -- A Colorado man found himself stuck in an air conditioning vent for 15 hours while trying to retrieve a purse he allegedly had stolen from a friend, police said.
Englewood Police Department investigator Brad Johnson said officers found the 28-year-old man about 2:50 p.m. Tuesday after being alerted to calls for help emanating from the roof of the Charles Hay World School.
City firefighters cut the unidentified man free and he was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, The Denver Post reported. He was cited for theft, trespassing and damage to property.
Police say he told them he had taken friend's purse Monday night and threw it on the school's roof, then fell into the vent when he climbed up to retrieve it.
"Officers advised me that he looked like a chimney sweep," Johnson said. "This guy is really lucky."
