Jamie Holbrook said she spotted the mother duck and her ducklings in a Streeterville parking garage while she was leaving work at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, WGN-TV, Chicago, reported Wednesday. Holbrook said she soon saw the ducks attempting to cross Lake Shore Drive with the help of a man who stopped traffic and she was able to scoop some of the ducklings up before two others fell through the grate of a storm drain. Authorities were called and police held up traffic while firefighters attempted to remove the grate. However, it took a Chicago Streets and Sanitation truck to remove the grate and free the ducklings. Holbrook said she is working to get an animal rescue organization to take care of the ducks.
