LIGHTHOUSE POINT, Fla., June 22 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said a woman was arrested on a domestic violence charge hours after her wedding for allegedly biting her new husband.

Lighthouse Point police said Bernadette Besario Catan-Keeler, 30, and Mike Keeler celebrated their nuptials Saturday at the W hotel in Fort Lauderdale and went to a nightclub later in the evening, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Wednesday.

Mike Keeler told police he left the nightclub when Catan-Keeler began dancing with another man.

He said his wife was drunk and shoved him and bit him on the left shoulder when she returned to the hotel.

Keeler said he then drove back to the couple's home in Lighthouse Point and Catan-Keeler arrived soon after him. He said she threw water on him, ripped his shirt and bit his right arm.

Catan-Keeler, who said the bite marks on her husband were from "fooling around" two days earlier, was arrested and charged with domestic violence battery.

Keeler asked a judge at a bond hearing Monday for leniency, saying his wife's state of mind had been altered by being intoxicated.

Catan-Keeler's bond was set at $4,500 and she was ordered to steer clear of alcoholic beverages.
