SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y., June 16 (UPI) -- Officials at a New York state high school said two pictures were cut out of the yearbook after one of them was altered to add gold teeth.

Saratoga Springs High School administrators said they do not know how two gold teeth were digitally added to the senior portrait of Maya Kurchner but the photo was cut out of the books before they were distributed to students Tuesday, The Saratogian reported Thursday.

Staff members said they received permission from Nick Kirkpatrick, a senior whose picture was on the other side of the page, to remove the offending part of the page.

Administrators said students will receive an insert with replacement pictures of Kurchner and Kirkpatrick.

"We're continuing to look into this," Principal Brett Miller said. "We take this situation very seriously."
