Woman, 104, gets baseball birthday wish

DETROIT, June 13 (UPI) -- A 104-year-old Detroit area woman whose plans to celebrate at a Tigers game was foiled by rain had her birthday wish come true a month later.

Mary Johnson, whose plans to visit Comerica Park for the first time to celebrate her May birthday were ruined by the rain, was picked up from her Royal Oak nursing home by limousine Sunday and watched the game against the Seattle Mariners from a suite provided by the Tigers, the Detroit Free Press reported Monday.

Johnson was also treated to a visit from Al Kaline, one of her all-time favorite Detroit Tigers.

She said not even the team's 7-3 loss could dampen her mood.

"I've never had a celebration like this before in my life," Johnson said.
