Man blames violence on wolf scratch

AMHERST, Ohio, June 10 (UPI) -- Authorities in Ohio said a man arrested after behaving violently and growling at sheriff's deputies blamed his actions on a scratch from a wolf.

Lorain County sheriff's deputies said Thomas Stroup, 20, was arrested at about 12:30 a.m. Sunday after they received a call of a "very violent" male attacking people at the Timber Ridge Campground in Amherst, The Chronicle-Telegram, Elyria, Ohio.

Deputies said a friend of Stroup who was at the scene told them the suspect had consumed a large amount of alcohol and fought with other campers, who left before deputies arrived. Stroup was found sleeping under a trailer and growled at the deputies before being placed under arrest.

The deputies said Stroup apologized for his behavior while en route to the Lorain County Jail and told them he had consumed too much vodka and his violent behavior was the result of a wolf scratch that drives him to act violently during the full moon.

Stroup was charged with underage consumption.

Routh joins Superman Celebration

METROPOLIS, Ill., June 10 (UPI) -- Organizers of the 33rd annual Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Ill., said this year's guests include "Superman Returns" star Brandon Routh.

Karla Ogle, co-chair of the June 9-12 event, said Routh was added to the lineup alongside other guests including Sam Huntington, who co-starred in "Superman Returns" as Jimmy Olsen, once the actor was able to confirm his availability.

"Once we learned he could indeed travel in early June, we began finalizing the details to add him to our lineup," Ogle said. "We are so excited that he will be here in Metropolis!"

Ogle said items will be sold at the event for Routh to sign free of charge during a Saturday session and fans can bring items from home to be signed for $30 each.

Facebook friends tattoo video a hoax

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands, June 10 (UPI) -- A video depicting a girl receiving a tattoo with pictures of her 152 Facebook friends is a hoax, a Dutch tattoo artist said.

Dex Moelker, a Rotterdam tattoo artist, said the girl in the YouTube video posted by user Susyj87 was given a temporary sleeve tattoo instead of the real thing, Dutchnews.nl reported Thursday.

"It is a try out tattoo, a transfer, that washes off in a couple of days," Moelker told the Telegraaf.

He said the video, which was picked up by news Web sites including CNN.com, was created as a publicity stunt for his tattoo shop.

Four crocodiles seized from London home

LONDON, June 10 (UPI) -- Police in London said they found four West African dwarf crocodiles being kept in cramped tanks in a home they searched on an unrelated matter.

Investigators said the crocodiles, which were being kept without a permit, were seized from the semi-detached house and taken to a quarantine facility at Heathrow Airport, The Daily Mirror reported Thursday.

Authorities said the largest of the crocs, which measured more than 4 feet, was ill and died shortly after being seized.

The remaining crocodiles are planned to be taken to the Birdworld sanctuary in Surrey, England.

Police said the person who was keeping the crocodiles is likely to face charges.
