TAMPA BAY, Fla., May 26 (UPI) -- A Tampa Bay Rays fan says he was asked to leave a game at Tropicana Field for wearing his "Yankees Suck" T-shirt.

Melton Little said he was wearing the shirt May 16 at the Rays-New York Yankees game he attended with his sons, ages 8 and 19, when an usher approached and told him the shirt violated stadium policy, The St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Thursday.

Little said the usher told him the word "suck" was considered a "profanity" under stadium policy and he could either turn it inside out, remove it or leave the stadium. Little said he chose to leave.

Little, a lawyer who practices civil and family law, said he wrote a letter to the Rays asking them to reconsider their policy toward the word "suck," which he said he does not consider indecent or offensive.

"I teach my kids to say that instead of other four-letter words," he said.

He said the team has not yet replied to his letter.
