ORLANDO, Fla., May 23 (UPI) -- A group of 245 Florida dancers set a Guinness World Record for Most Dancers en Pointe when they all danced on the tips of their toes in unison.

Guinness said the event Sunday at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando surpassed the record of 230 dancers set last year in New York, the Orlando Sentinel reported Monday.

Kathy Follensbee, an organizer of the attempt and director of the Dr. Phillips High School Dance Magnet, said the event helped raise money for the school. She said dancers from across central Florida came to Orlando to participate.
