PETOSKEY, Mich., May 11 (UPI) -- A man dressed as Batman was jailed Wednesday after being found dangling from the roof of a downtown Petoskey, Mich., hardware store, police say.

A Petoskey Department of Public Safety news release says the name of the 31-year-old Harbor Springs man was being withheld pending his arraignment on trespassing and weapons possession charges, the Petoskey News Review reported.

Police in Petoskey, located in northern Michigan about 267 miles north of Detroit, and Michigan State Police troopers responded to a 12:40 a.m. call and found "a male subject, dressed in a Batman costume, hanging off the western wall of the building."

After detaining the faux caped crusader, police say they found a collapsible baton, a can of chemical irritant spray and a pair of lead lined gloves, the Toronto Sun reported.

The man was taken to Emmet County Jail to await arraignment, public safety director John Calabrese said. It wasn't clear what the suspect was up to.

"I think he enjoys doing this," he said.
