Monarch Fire Protection District Fire Marshal Roger Herin said the unidentified truck spilled the chicken parts onto eastbound Highway 40/Interstate 64 in Chesterfield about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and the poultry was tracked for about a mile by cars driving through the mess, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Wednesday. Advertisement "Whoever dropped the chicken stuff did not stop," Herin said. "It's a mess." "It's slick for quite a ways," Herin said. "It smells like rotten meat." The Missouri Department of Transportation said firefighters and highway workers spent more than 2 hours cleaning up the spill and sanding the road. Traffic was allowed back into the affected lanes about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
