St. Cloud police said the motorist refused to pull over during an attempted traffic stop at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday, starting a high speed chase that caused "significant damage" to lawns and the St. Cloud Country Club golf course, the (Minneapolis) Star-Tribune reported Tuesday.
Police said the motorist fled for about 2 miles before officers called off the chase when the car went down a steep hill. The vehicle was found empty and the occupants of the car, including the 24-year-old driver and three passengers, were located nearby.
The driver, whose name was not released, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant and charged with counts including failure to signal, fleeing in a motor vehicle, hit and run, criminal damage to property and speeding.
The passengers were released.
