VERO BEACH, Fla., April 25 (UPI) -- A Florida golf club said workers are on the lookout for a purse-snatching raccoon known to have taken at least two bags from female golfers.

Eunice Messick said her purse disappeared recently from her golf cart at the Sandridge Golf Club and she believed it had been stolen until last week when another woman caught a raccoon running off with her purse at the Vero Beach club, WPTV, West Palm Beach, reported Monday.

"She had the opportunity to look back," Bob Komarinetz, Sandridge's director of golf, said of the second woman. "She saw the raccoon grab her purse, take it from the golf cart and carry it into the bushes."

Komarinetz said groundskeepers followed the raccoon's path and were able to recover both purses, but the animal itself has eluded capture.

"I think he's looking for food more than anything," said Komarinetz. "A lot of the ladies and the men for that matter will carry crackers with them to snack on and I would imagine that this is not an isolated incident."
