ORLANDO, Fla., April 21 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a 2-year-old child who fell from a hotel balcony was saved from serious injury by a witness who caught the child.
Orange County sheriff's deputies said a person in the Orlando Econo Lodge Inn & Suites first-floor pool area spotted the child dangling from a balcony Thursday night and was able to catch the falling toddler, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel reported Thursday.
Doctors at Arnold Palmer hospital determined the child was not injured.
"It was a miracle," Sheriff's Capt. Denise Rollins said.
Investigators said the parents told them they were inside the hotel room at the time of the incident and did not know the toddler was on the balcony. The investigation is ongoing, deputies said.
The height of the balcony was not given in the report.
