NAPERVILLE, Ill., April 20 (UPI) -- Police in Illinois say a man told them he fell asleep with an escort in his home and awoke to find his cellphone, laptop and $800 cash among the items missing.

Naperville police Sgt. Gregg Bell said the man, whose name was not released, called police Saturday and said he had fallen asleep about 1 a.m. with the escort still in his apartment and he awoke later in the morning to find her gone along with his belongings, the Chicago Tribune reported Tuesday. The man said his driver's license, credit card and Social Security card also had disappeared.

The man told police he hired the escort from a Web site.

"According to him they did not engage in any sexual activity," Bell said. He said police are taking the man at his word.

"At that point the guy would be a witness of himself," Bell said. "We will just investigate it from a theft standpoint."
