DENVER, April 19 (UPI) -- A group of Denver "yarn bombers" -- crocheting enthusiasts who use their craft for street art -- created an 8-foot ball and chain for a 42-foot bear statue.

The group, the Ladies Fancywork Society, took credit for attaching the ball and chain of crochet yarn to the blue bear statue at the Denver Convention Center early Monday, The Denver Post reported.

A group member who identified herself only as "Esther" said they used 15 miles of yarn for the feat, which was inscribed with the message: "Slave to the Craft."

"We have wanted to tag it forever," she said of the bear.

The yarn was installed about 4 a.m. and removed by convention center workers by 6:40 a.m.
