EVERGREEN, Wash., April 17 (UPI) -- A Washington state high school custodian and track coach who won millions in the state lottery has donated $40,000 to build a new school track, officials said.

Evergreen High School janitor Tyrone Curry, who also coaches the track and field team, said way before he won almost $3.4 million five years ago he knew where he'd put the money if it came his way,

"Ten years ago, I said if I win some money, I'm going to put a track here," he told KING-TV, Seattle.

In early April, Curry gave the school district $40,000 to build the new track.

"Tyrone goes above and beyond in the sports he coaches," Evergreen senior Devante Botello said. "It's a deep feeling. All I can say is thanks."

Curry says the greater gift is what the students have given him.

"Kids do things for you. They keep you young," Curry, who will retire in June after 34 years service, said.
