Prank costs Illinois teen $150

BLOOMINGTON, Ill., April 3 (UPI) -- An Illinois teen who texted friends saying she'd been robbed and shot in the foot was fined for what turned out to be an April Fool's Day prank, officials said.

Friends of the 16-year-old girl called police in Bloomington, Ill., disturbed by the erroneous text messages, The Pantagraph of Bloomington reported.

When police arrived, it was clear the girl had not been robbed or shot.

Police issued the girl a $100 ticket for disorderly conduct and a $50 for skipping school Friday.
