Trump offers 'official' birth certificate

NEW YORK, March 29 (UPI) -- Real estate magnate and U.S. reality television host Donald Trump Tuesday produced a grainy microfilm reproduction of his New York City birth certificate.

The image of his New York birth certification was released to ABC News a day after political pundits noted the birth document "the Donald" produced Monday from a hospital in Queens was apparently less than official.

Trump made news this month when he questioned whether President Barack Obama was born in the United States, apparently joining the so-called birther argument that Obama may not legally be eligible to hold the presidency. Trump, who has said he is considering a run for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, repeated his doubts about Obama's birthplace last week during an appearance on "The View" and was challenged by View co-host Whoopie Goldberg.

Politico said a Trump aide told ABC a birth certificate and a certificate of birth are not the same -- even though the wording on both documents may be the same.

Trump told Fox News he's "really concerned" Obama hasn't released his birth certificate, although Obama's certificate of live birth in Hawaii was posted on his campaign's Web site in 2008, as well as birth announcements published in newspapers, The Christian Science Monitor said.

The Monitor jokingly noted Trump's mother was born in Scotland and that his corporate jet plane is registered in the Bahamas.

"Have you ever met Trump? No you haven't," the newspaper said. "You've seen him as an assemblage of glowing pixels on a screen. That proves nothing. Homer Simpson is made up of pixels too."
