CARACAS, Venezuela, March 24 (UPI) -- A Venezuelan food company set a Guinness World Record with a 1,087-pound arepa, a traditional flattened corn flour cake.
Food manufacturer Empresas Polar, which created the 20-foot-diameter arepa Wednesday, said the record-setting dish was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the year the company began producing flour, Globovision reported Thursday.
Lorenzo Mendoza, president of the company, said the corn cake represents the Venezuelan values of "work, effort (and) commitment."
