SAN ANTONIO, March 21 (UPI) -- San Antonio police said a man who shot at officers and refused to exit his hotel room for 3 hours was upset about the price of a Beefy Crunch Burrito.

Police said the man, whose name was not released, was angry Sunday about the increase in price for the menu item at the Rigsby Road Taco Bell drive-through from 99 cents to $1.49 and fired a realistic-looking BB gun at the manager, the San Antonio Express-News reported Monday.

The suspect then pulled a handgun and an assault rifle from his car, leading the manager to lock the doors and call police. The man drove away from the scene and was pulled over nearby.

Police said the man exited his car with the assault rifle and pointed it at officers, setting off a shootout with no injuries but leading to one police cruiser windshield being shattered.

The man got back into his car and drove to the Roadway Inn, where he had been staying, and locked himself in his room. Police said they engaged in a standoff with the suspect for about 3 hours before using tear gas to force him out of the room about 6:45 p.m. Officers said they recovered the rifle and two handguns.
