PORTLAND, Ore., March 8 (UPI) -- Police in Oregon said a man who broke into a house and took a shower called 911 when the homeowner arrived because he feared for his safety.

Portland Police Bureau spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson said Timothy Chapek, 24, called 911 at about 7 p.m. Monday and said an adult male had arrived at the home he had broken into while he was taking a shower and he was afraid the resident might have a gun, The (Portland) Oregonian reported Tuesday.

Simpson said the homeowner, whose name was not released, demanded to know what Chapek was doing and dialed 911 when the alleged intruder locked himself in the bathroom.

Chapek was arrested on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespass and taken to the Multnomah County Jail.
