It's hockey night for U.S. secret agents

ARLINGTON, Va., March 6 (UPI) -- The FBI and the Secret Service, normally on the same side, faced off on the ice in a charity hockey match in Virginia this weekend.

Saturday's annual game at the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Va., raised money this time for Keith Rile, a Secret Service agent diagnosed with cancer, CNN reported. All 2,500 tickets of $5 apiece were sold.

"The FBI is a family; the Secret Service is a family," FBI Director Robert Mueller said. "We work together every day of the year, and one day we come together to have this friendly rivalry. We're all here to support him and support his family."

Mueller, who played hockey at Princeton, faced off against special agent James Meehan of the Secret Service in a ceremonial puck drop first.

The Secret Service took an early lead and kept the FBI on the defensive throughout.

In the last minute of the first overtime, with 58 seconds left, the Secret Service scored the tie-breaking goal to win 7-6.

The Secret Service also won last year, but the FBI prevailed in 2009 in overtime.
