Puppy survives euthanasia at shelter

SULFUR, Okla., March 3 (UPI) -- An Oklahoma animal clinic said it was looking for a home for a puppy found alive in a dumpster after undergoing euthanasia.

Animal Control Officer Scott Prall said he found the dog, dubbed Wall-e after the robot title character in the Pixar film, alive inside a dumpster the morning after it was euthanized along with its litter mates at a Sulphur, Okla., dog shelter, KWTV, Oklahoma City, reported Wednesday.

"He was just as healthy as could be," Prall said.

Officials said the puppies were left on the shelter's doorstep and euthanized because they appeared to be very sick. They were all checked out and declared dead by a veterinarian before being put in the dumpster.

Amanda Kloski, an Arbuckle Veterinary Clinic veterinarian caring for Wall-e, said calls have been coming into the clinic from as far away as Canada from people seeking to adopt Wall-e. She said the clinic will go over the offers to find the best home for the puppy.

"He needs a really special home because he's really special," Kloski said.
