GENEVA, Ill., Feb. 12 (UPI) -- An Illinois high school principal says the ban on sexually suggestive dancing was prompted by concerns expressed by some of the students themselves.
Geneva High sent a note to parents informing them that "grinding" would not be allowed at Friday night's Black Light Dance.
Principal Tom Rogers told the Kane County (Ill.) Chronicle he wasn't being an old fuddy-duddy and that some Geneva students were, in fact, a bit uncomfortable with the "sexually explicit, back-to-front style of dancing."
"We caused a stir, if you will, but I think we've done the right thing," Rogers said.
Chaperons will enforce the ban by requiring students to wear a wristband. Violators will have their wristbands removed. Students grinding away without a wristband will be presumed to be a repeat offender and will be shown the door.
