ROME, Ga., Jan. 31 (UPI) -- An employee at a Georgia convenience store says a pilferer he prevented from poaching a pair of pickles pushed him into a pop display case.

Rome police said the South Broad Mini Mart worker told officers he caught a man in a red hooded sweatshirt trying to leave the store Saturday with two 99-cent spicy pickles, the Rome News Tribune reported Monday.

The worker said the man attempted to pay for the pickles when he called 911 but became angry when he refused to hang up the phone. The clerk said the suspect shoved him into the soda display case and left the store.

Police said they were investigating.
