CLEVELAND, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day, a holiday started by an Indiana radio station, marked its 10th year Monday of celebrating the many uses of the packing material.
The "Good Morning Cleveland" program on WEWS-TV celebrated the 10th anniversary of the holiday during Monday's broadcast with one of the most popular uses for Bubble Wrap, the stress-relief of popping the bubbles on a huge roll of the material, WEWS-TV reported.
The holiday was started by a Bloomington, Ind., radio station in 2001 to celebrate Sealed Air Corp.'s trademark product invented in 1957. The holiday's official Web site, www.fast-pack.com/bubblewrapappreciation.html, said Bubble Wrap was invented as a wallpaper but didn't catch on in the mainstream until it was used as a packing material a few years later.
