FALL RIVER, Mass., Jan. 27 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts bank is suing an armored truck company over the disappearance of $64,500 in coins meant to be delivered to another institution.

BankFive of Fall River said in the lawsuit against Brink's armored truck company the two shipments of coins were picked up Feb. 17 and Feb. 23 but never reached the Eastern Bank of Boston, the Boston Globe reported Thursday.

The bank said it never received an explanation from Brink's about the stolen coins and the armored truck company failed to notify law enforcement of any possible theft.

"If Brink's believed that there was a crime after it took possession of the coins, it was incumbent upon Brink's to contact law enforcement," said Scott McConchie, a lawyer for BankFive.

Brink's, which BankFive said will no longer be used by the financial institution, declined to comment, the Globe said.
