SOUTHAMPTON, England, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- British authorities said they were working to round up stray pigs seen wandering Southampton, England, before the animals cause a traffic collision.
Residents said they have regularly spotted at least two pigs, believed to be Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs, wandering in the Coxford area of the city. Some said the animals may have escaped from an area farm, This Is Hampshire reported Monday.
"We need to get this resolved as a matter of urgency not just for the sake of the pigs, but more importantly before an accident is caused by these pigs roaming about on our local roads," Ward Councilor Don Thomas said.
City officials said they are working with police and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to resolve the issue.
