BRAMPTON, Ontario, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- A Canadian man trying to set the world record for longest dance session said he is extending his attempt by 15 hours after learning of a recent record.
Suresh Joachim, 41, of Mississauga, said he was four days into his attempt Thursday in Brampton when he discovered finishing his dance at the close of New Year's Eve celebrations, which would put him at 110 hours, would fall short of the 123 hours and 15 minutes danced by Kalamandalam Hemaletha of India in September, the Toronto Star reported Friday.
Joachim, who said he was initially trying to beat a 108-hour record set in 2008, said he will now stop dancing at 1:20 p.m. on New Year's Day.
Joachim has set 63 world records in his lifetime, including fastest mile crawling at 23 minutes and 45 seconds. Sixteen of the records still stand, including a 1,000-mile foot journey at an average 2.171 miles an hour.
