NORAD, Google track Santa

WASHINGTON, Dec. 24 (UPI) -- The North American Aerospace Defense Command announced the start of its annual Santa Claus tracking early Friday.

NORAD, which has tracked Santa's voyage for the past 55 years and in recent years partnered with Google Earth for an online version, said radar, satellites, Santa Cams and fighter jets began tracking Jolly Old St. Nick at 2 a.m. Thursday and will follow him until the completion of his world tour, The Washington Post reported Friday.

Google said Santa can be tracked online with Google Maps, the Google Earth plug-in, Google Maps for mobile phones and his YouTube channel, http://www.youtube.com/noradtrackssanta.

People wishing to get their updates by phone can call the NORAD Tracks Santa Operations Center from 4:30 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (EST) at 877-HI-NORAD.
