HOLLYWOOD, Fla., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- A Florida casino said a world record for the World's Largest Guitar Smash was set by destroying 1,914 acoustic guitars at the facility.
The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood said participants, including casino VIPs, members of the Seminole Tribe of Florida and members of the public, set the guitar-smashing record to celebrate the grand opening of the casino's Winner's Way parking garage, WPLG-TV, Miami, reported.
Guinness Book of World Records officials said they are working to verify the record.
The casino said the broken guitar parts will be donated to the Ann Stork Center in Plantation for use by disabled artists. The business said it is also donating $50,000 worth of guitars to nearby public school music programs.
