CHICAGO, Dec. 3 (UPI) -- Organizers of the Santa Speedo Run in Chicago said 200 people are expected to run nearly nude through the city to benefit the Chicago Diabetes Project.
The organizers of the event, which recommends Speedo swimwear as attire but does not disallow those who choose to wear snowsuits, said runners will brave the expected 4-6 inches of snow in the city Saturday to dash 2 miles through the streets, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday.
The event begins at Shenanigans restaurant and bar, where participants will gather and pay a $40 cover charge to enter the race, as well as receive free drinks and snacks for 3 hours until the running starts at 1 p.m.
Pre-race events include a Flip Cup tourney, costume contest and "North Pole" dancing.
Organizers said 150 runners raised $5,500 last year and 200 people are expected to turn out for this year's event.
