LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Zoo said a 25-year-old Asian elephant has become the first official resident of the new Elephants of Asia exhibit.

Zookeepers said Billy the elephant was moved to the 6-acre exhibit Thursday morning and he will soon be joined by two female Asian elephants from the San Diego Zoo, the Los Angeles Times reported Friday.

The exhibit will officially open to the public Dec. 16.
