NEW YORK, Nov. 4 (UPI) -- A New York matchmaker who said she missed a $250,000 appointment when her apartment's elevator broke down wants her landlord to let her out of her lease.

Janis Spindel said the 25 minutes she spent in the broken elevator last month caused her to miss an appointment with a billionaire client who was going to pay her $250,000 for the appointment and the same amount again if she found him a wife, the New York Post reported Thursday.

"There was no air in the elevator. I'm claustrophobic and it was terrifying," she said.

Spindel said she wants her landlord to release her from her lease and pay her moving expenses. She said she will go to court if he refuses.

She said she no longer uses the resident elevators and receives rides in the service elevator.
