MIAMI, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- A Miami woman approaching her 110th birthday said roast pork, lard cracklings and sweets are still big parts of her diet.

Gertrudis Balsinde, who is preparing to celebrate her 110th birthday Nov. 17, said her grandmother died at the age of 108, El Nuevo Herald reported Tuesday.

Balsinde, who lives with her 77-year-old daughter, said she began working at the age of 10 and raised five children. She said the secret to her long life is closely guarded.

"Oh no! That's restricted. I don't give that to anybody," she said. "I don't share that secret."

However, Balsinde, who the Los Angeles-based Gerontology Research Group said may become certified as the world's 80th oldest person after her birthday, said she could offer some tips to others seeking to become super-centenarians, people who have lived past the age of 110.

"Work hard, don't drink, don't smoke," she said.
