MELBOURNE, Fla., Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said three teenagers were not seriously injured when they jumped from a bridge as part of a thrill-seeking pact.

Sgt. Steve Sadoff of the Melbourne Police Department said authorities were called to the Melbourne Causeway by motorists who saw the trio take the plunge into the water at about 3:18 a.m. Tuesday, Florida Today reported.

"They were very lucky," Sadoff said. "There's a lot of rebar and other junk down there. It's very dangerous."

Rescue workers found the teenagers on top of the pylons below the bridge and they were brought back to shore.

Sadoff said the teens were cited for the pedestrian infraction of jumping off of a bridge.
