Police find lost bong; suspect says thanks

BRADENTON, Fla., Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A Florida man, arrested after admitting to police there was marijuana in his car trunk, thanked them for finding his bong, lost for seven years, officers say.

A Manatee County Sheriff's Office report says a car driven by Mark Fiasco that came up on a computer check as being previously involved in a drug case was pulled over Friday around midnight, the Bradenton (Fla.) Herald reported.

Fiasco allegedly provided an address not listed on his driver's license and said no when asked if there were any drugs in the car.

Deputies searched the car and found about 1 ounce of marijuana in the trunk and a bong inside a plastic shopping bag, the Herald said Saturday.

After Fiasco and his passenger, Matthew Hawley, were read their rights, the report says, Fiasco allegedly admitted to knowing the ounce was in the trunk and they had purchased it with the intent of smoking it that evening.

Fiasco also told deputies he had been looking for the $150 bong for seven years and assumed a roommate had stolen it before police found it, the newspaper said.

Fiasco, being held in Manatee County jail on a $1,240 bond, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession with the intent to use and failure to change an address on a license.

Hawley has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession with the intent to use. He is also in Manatee County jail on a $1,120 bond, the Herald said.
