LONDON, Oct. 9 (UPI) -- The EuroMillions lottery paid a record $180 million to an unknown player in Britain Friday, official said.

The winner, one of the tens of millions of players, beat odds of 76,275,360 to one, The Daily Telegraph reported. In British pounds, the jackpot was £113,374,997.83.

The previous record British lottery win was $134 million (£84.4 million) in May, also in the EuroMillions draw. The identity of the ticket holder, which may have been a syndicate, was never disclosed.

Before Friday, the top Euromillions winner was a Spanish player who won $175 million (126.2 million euros) in May 2009.

Earlier in the evening, online ticket sales were disrupted for half an hour as connections were lost between Camelot, which runs the lottery in Britain and some banks.

If Friday's ticket was bought by a single person, it will be the second biggest lottery win in history.

The world's largest non-syndicate lottery winners shared $390 million in March 2007 on the U.S. Mega Millions game. The two winners were from New Jersey and Georgia.
