PARIS, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- The Paris mayor's office says it has installed a drinking fountain that spouts sparkling water in a city park.

The office of Mayor Bertrand Delanoe said the fountain at Jardin de Reuilly would be opened to the public Tuesday to dispense water with carbon dioxide bubbles, Radio France Internationale reported Tuesday.

The office said the fountain is connected to the public water system and has an attached cooling system to keep the water cold and a mechanism to dissolve carbon dioxide into the liquid.

"This new fountain is in keeping with Paris's policy of supplying more free water in the capital," said Anne Le Strat, Delanoe's deputy in charge of water.
