MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- A Michigan man said he used his lawn expertise to grow the phrase "Will U Marry Me" into his front yard for his proposal.
Tommy Dafoe, 24, of Isabella County's Chippewa Township, said he spelled out the words in fertilizer weeks ago and carefully watered and groomed the grass to make the message clear, The (Mount Pleasant) Morning Sun reported Thursday.
Dafoe, owner of T's Lawn Service, said he then asked his girlfriend, Kristi Volz, 25, to look at how green the lawn was.
However, Volz said she did not notice the words until Dafoe, her boyfriend of three years, dropped to one knee.
"It didn't even register until he got down on one knee," Volz said. "Then I realized what was happening.
"I thought it was perfect," she said.
Dafoe said he is considering writing "Just Married" into the lawn after their wedding.
