Deputies detonate toy pony outside school

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said a stuffed toy pony outside of an elementary school was detonated by deputies after it was deemed suspicious.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said the FurReal pony, a lifelike high-end toy, was considered a possible explosive device Tuesday after deputies were unable to determine who left it in the middle of a cul-de-sac near Waterbridge Elementary School in Orlando, the Orlando Sentinel reported Thursday.

Officials said a robot inspected the toy and deputies detonated it using a pack of explosives. The sheriff's office said the item was later deemed "non-threatening."

The elementary school was placed on lock-down during the incident.
