Man learns casino losses not deductible
BATON ROUGE, La., Sept. 8 (UPI) -- A city councilwoman in Louisiana is seeking her council's support for a campaign to encourage young men to quit wearing low-hanging pants in public.
Baton Rouge Metro Councilwoman C. Denise Marcelle said constitutional issues prevent her from seeking a law to fine those caught with their pants sagging, exposing underwear, so she is instead pursuing a "public awareness campaign" to discourage young men from wearing their pants low, The Advocate, Baton Rouge, reported Wednesday.
"I hate to see it and I see so much of it in my district," Marcelle said. "It's disrespectful to the elderly, to young kids and to women."
Marcelle's resolution, which she said she plans to introduce to the council Wednesday, states "those who wear saggy pants are hurting their chances of becoming employable, educated and productive citizens."
"What these young men don't understand is that it sets you up to be stopped or pulled over by police," Marcelle said. "It lessens their chances of being employed and has so many negative connotations."
