KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Malaysian authorities said a man arrested at an airport had 97 snakes and a turtle concealed in his luggage.
The country's Wildlife and National Parks Department said Anson Wong was arrested Thursday at Kuala Lumpur International Airport after his luggage broke on a conveyer belt, revealing 95 boa constrictors, two rhinoceros vipers and a mata-mata turtle, The (Malaysian) Star reported Tuesday.
Wong, who spent nearly 6 years in a U.S. jail on wildlife trafficking charges, was traveling to Jakarta, Indonesia, authorities said.
Authorities said Wong would be remanded in custody pending further investigation.
